She's done really well to get to this age and obviously has a great home. Wouldn't it be great if we could all keep going in good health and then pass in our sleep? I hope she will either pick up again, or go off peacefully in her sleep. I know you will miss her when it's her time.

Oh, poor little Toika, she must be so confused about what is happening to her! Since you had her treated by the vet and he did have some medicine to give her, then once the swelling goes down she may get her sight back, at least in one eye. I know how much you love her, I have had cats this old, and older, it's hard to see them age. I know you will be kind to her, love her, help her to find the litter box, and hold her and cuddle her to comfort her. If I know kitties, she probably wants most to be with Mom and Dad. Even if she can't see, she can hear your voice, and feel you petting her and loving her. My Minou had a stroke, and she came back from it pretty well, but it was not as bad, and she was not as old. Still, I think the little fur kids manage better than we do, sometimes. I will definitely send up my best fuzzy prayers for Toika, for surely God cares about all of creation, not just "people". It will be a blessing if she can recover. Give her a little time for her eyes to get strong again. Just don't move the furniture and she will work out getting around.

i know how you are feeling. Our cat Tony who is 14 was diagnosed with kidney failure in May. Lost a lot of weight and now we are giving infusiions, but several lumps/tumors are on is leg and chest and the doctor said we just have to wait and give him a lot of attention and love. We will have to make a decision sometime in the very near future about having him put down, but only when we know he has no more strength. Not easy.

Hugs to you also..I had a dog who had two strokes and was blind. She knew where everthing was and still functioned well for a good while. she had one stroke and a little over a year had another. She died peacefully in her bed in her sleep. So keep the faith... She will do OK.Suzanne

I have been in your shoes, with my beloved Tobi 3 years ago. He had a stroke at 10 years old.....What I am hoping is the best outcome for Toika.
