Upcycled ties. When Mike retired, he vowed never to wear a tie again. I raked them all out of his wardrobe, unpicked the seams and joined them up to make a skirt. They are all different sizes and materials and range from cartoons to corporate.

Just love this idea and my l5 yr old grandddaughter might actually like it too....can you tell me what you used for the waistband please and did you open the ties completely or whip stitch them by hand on the folds of the fabrics? Just wonderful...I'll bet you feel very sassy when you wear this! haha

I pressed them open to give the maximum size possible and machined them together.

Oh my goodness, my daughter read a book years ago about a skirt made out of ties. She would love this.

I have seen other skirts made of ties but yours hangs so much nicer. Must be because of taking the time to pick out the seams. Love it!

Great work - do you want some more:? I have a container of ties that I thought I would make bindings out of,.,,..,too much work, and still have them in the plastic bin.

Reslly neat idea. I used some of my dad's old ties to make him a lap throw. I put "The ties of Tommy are up on you." and he really loves it.
