Carolyn, you could lay the threads onto a base fabric use also bits of fabric too, lay wash away stabilizer on top and then zigzag the top and this will make a nifty block for what have you, so this done on "Sewing with Nancy" just last week, she suggested the block could go on a tote to make a pocket i think, I haven't been saving any myself... :)

I HAVE SAVED THREADS FROM EMBROIDRY FOR 10 YEARS-- I PLACE THEM ON A PIECE OF FABRIC HELD IN PLACE WITH QUILT SPRAY ---TOP WITH SEWABLE CLEAR PLASTIC-- TOP SEW WITH CLEAR THREAD IN ANY DESIGN THAT HOLDS THE THREADS IN PLACE- I MAKE SHOPPING BAGS AND TABLE RUNNERS - MAKES GREAT GIFTS MARJORIE

My inner kid is curious as to what you will come up with. There are many items that could be made. Bookmarks, boxes, coaster etc. You do got a nice saved supply.

I keep my threads and have tried various ways to use them. Try sprinkling them between 2 layers of a sheer fabric (organza works); stitch a monogram or a simple one-colour design and then do a satin stitch edge to make a coaster. I use scalloped edges from some of the doilies that are free. Also, Sue Box sometimes has some freebies that are just the satin edging and you can put whatever in the middle. It's ALWAYS a one-of-a-kind project!! Avis

You can use them to make Fantasy Fabric. Scatter them over tone on tone fabric, you can also place ribbons ,braid, wool cover with Solvy machine up and down fabric to secure threads etc then soak to dissolve the Solvy and hey presto you have Fantasy Fabric.

Several years ago I layered mine between organza and did lots of swirling quilting stitches. Then I cut out applique designs and satin stitched them on a denim shirt. Realy cute.

O'My O'My I thought I was saving enough when I saved my emb thread ends...Now I see I should have been saving my sewing thread pieces also. O'well I'll just have to get another old fruit jar down. Knew I had them for a reason. I want to thank you Noah and everyone else for the ideas .. I did go to the site listed below and saw more ideas. Wonderful site here.

Well Caroline, I have a little plastic bust bin next to my machine that I put all my embroidery threads into. When full I then put into a tin, waiting to do a project as well.

Put them inbetween two layers of organza add a few sparkles in beween the layers too or mylar scraps and make christmas orniments with it. Suzanne

Yes theres a flower or doily in oval .I tryed it and it sewed out well!!
