Initially 4x4, but since I got a new machine, I am doing more 5x7 just because I can. That being said though, I still use the 4x4 hoop, as I find that doing things in the smallest hoop possibe makes for less problems!
Good question.

I would say with merging designs together I usually end up with 7 x 8 most often. I like larger designs myself, I wish some more larger single letters or smaller full sets of letters would be nice I am always hunting for letters like that, usually I end up using what is in my program since I can make them any size I want but selection gets boring! LOL

Most of mine are 5x7 or 4x4. I would like to get a second 5x7 hoop so I can work two projects at once (I am making for craft shows) but have not yet been able to justify the cost.

I probably use my 5x7 and 8x12 hoops the most.

200 x 360 mm (8 x 14"approx). What is the most popular sized embroidery field that you embroider?

It is hard to imagine someone embroidering that size all the time, you must go through a lot of thread! My most popular, at this time is 4x4, since that is my only size,LOL ....My reason for inquiring, is it justifiable to pay the big difference in price, for a machine that sts bigger than a 5x7, if the bigger sizes are seldom used.
If you click on my avatar, you will see the many large doilies I have embroidered, and some are double the size allowed by my largest hoop. Once you have a large hoop, you will want to investigate what else you can do with it. I had a small hoop for many years and was frustrated because I had to reduce almost every design I liked and my in-hoop projects could not be larger than 9x12.5 cm. To me it's very justifiable to pay extra to get larger hoops. If I could, I would buy a more expensive home machine to get the 35x35 cm hoop to be able to embroider the larger doilies that I have embroidered splitting the file. Martine (Mops) has provided the beautiful designs and my largest hoop wasn't large enough to embroider them in one hooping. If I had the 35x35cm hoop, I would have embroidered the doilies in a fraction of the time it took me. Life is hort, enjoy doing what you like best! lol
Correction: Life is short, enjoy doing what you like best! lol
Go for the larger hoops!

I have a brother 4500 and use the big hoop the most. I first use stabilzer for this size and use the remnants for 4 x 4. I also piece them together when ever I can. I have to use it for many 5 x 7 designs because they over the size for the 5 x 7 hoop.

I use my 20x30 cms hoop the most.
I may run several 4x4 or 5x7 designs at the same time
or just my big designs lol

Since I seem to let myself get out of control when I start combining designs, I would have to sau that most of the time I am using 200mm x 360mm. I do get in a 260 x 200 occassionally. Having experienced only being able to use small hoops, I would definetly say that the extra cash is worth it because a larger hoop opens so many other possibilities. I LOVE
mine and would not go back. I SAY GO BIG

why not just buy small size and get a free resizing program to make designs the size you need. One such program is Wilcom Truesizer
