Brother and babylock have new machines out.
One is just embroidery, one is just sewing and Quilting, and one is a combo of both.
These are not the top of the line but are new.

Then there is the Viking Diamond.
Really depends on what you want to stitch and how much you are willing to pay.

Seems every Brand can have Lemons,
For me the next one is a 16 needle Amaya Commercial machine.

Some one on one of my other groups mentioned that the Embroidery pnly machine was around $4,000.00 to $5,000.00.

I wonder what it is about your machine that you like sew much & what you don't like or wish that it did have?

I have a Diamond & friend has a SE. Both have given us trouble & have been shipped to the Viking place in middle Tenn. Let us know if you find one that works good!!

I have always had Brother and never had a problem - I am on my third machine from them the innovis 2800D - and my sister has my other two the 8500 and the 2001 - no problems.. I like the idea that I can work from a Travel USB stick or connect directly to my computer.

Gotta go Baby Lock Ellisimo! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I had the Janome 11000SE (actually 3 of them over the course of one year) and all of them were TROUBLE! Got a refund from my dealer and bought the Ellisimo...Cannot believe how "LUCKY" I was to have so much trouble with the 11000SE...otherwise I wouldn't be the Hap,Hap,Happiest owner of the Ellisimo...It has lots of hoop and sizes...a built in camera for exact design placement (down to the millimeter in any direction)...a new camera scan for continuous automatic design placement...for endless design sequences...never miss auto threading, a fantastic pivit feature for the presser foot, auto thread cutting...and more...It's pricey, but I got a terrific deal on mine as I purchased it from my Janome dealer who was glad that after my 11000SE refund, I bought the Ellisimo from him...I would buy it again in a heartbeat...Brother has it's "sister" machine the Quattro 6000D (I think that's the model)...Baby Lock also has some new models just out in the last month or so that are not quite as expensive...they might be worth a check out...I would definately buy Baby Lock again.

I agree baby lock elissimo! LOVE IT ... also if you don't want to spend as much money the Ellegante is just as great ... I love my Enterprise too...Suzanne

Not a toughie...Babylock Ellegante if I had to go buy another machine. I also had the Babylock Ellisimo but it cost more and the Ellegante did everything I needed to do. Self threader, auto cutting, PES format super easy to use. I even understood the manuals...Ha,Ha

I've got a brother 4000d that spent most of last year in the repair shop and still doesn't work, breaks threads every 10 stitches and since it was 'fixed' at no small $$ the threader doesn't work properly amongst other issues . I've also got a janome 10001 that has been unusable for the last six months.... 'waiting for a part' - and that was the repair tech that 'stuffed' that one up!

You guessed it - I am one unhappy customer! I would dearly love a machine that works well and a reliable repair tech / company that would stand behind it's machine.

Why do you not buy a Bernina ? Know that they are expensive but I have never had the problems with my two that I read about here. Maybe the initial outlay is greater but when one adds times wasted/spent in frustration ,projects, petrol and more time without a machine then surely there must be some benefits to owning a Bernina. Their workshop techs. are fully trained (in South Africa anyway) and a pleasure to take your machine to for a service and that is all that they need !!

Sorry to hear you have to get another machine. I have had Brother in the past with no problems, except I found them too noisy for me as I have a bad ear problem. Best of luck with whatever you go with. Hugs Shirley

I have an older Barylock Ellageo and a Brother PR600II and they have not given me much trouble at all. I broke the threader (my fault) when I forgot to change to the correct foot and the PR600 had one minor problem but they keep right on going and the Ellageo is at least 10 years old and the 6 needle is at least 6 years old. I'd buy another of the same brand in a heart beat.

I would buy a Babylock machine. I have 4 and they have been great machines, few to no problems. And they are well used. babylock uses the pes format which is one of the most common formats. I would recommend that you test drive each machine mentioned and make a deicision from that.

Any brand can have lemons so whatever reasons you originally chose Janome, think of that and do not let one bad one change your mind. I have only had HusqvarnaVikings and love them, but they too have had some with issues. Hugs. Nan W

I have had Viking products since I started with machine embroidery. I have loved all of them. I kept trading up. I now have the Diamond and love it. The only thing that I wish they had was stitch regulating for free motion quilting. There is a brand that has it but I don't remember which one. Good luck in your selection.

does anyone have the new horizon machine from Janome? I really like the Janomes & I am sort of thinking that it is just this machine that is the lemon & not the brand? @ least that is what I am leaning towards. I have read that others have not been happy with the 11000SE which is what I am returning. I wonder if it is just this particular model?
