My mom was a professional doll maker. I crocheted a little black doily out of Caron Simply Soft Yarn to fit the back of her head. I used the dowels they sell for candied apples to wrap the yarn around. Spritz it in water and bake it on a cookie sheet at 250 degrees for 20 minutes. Then you let it cool and unwrap it from the dowel. I just pull a strand through the doily and loop it the same way you do the tulle for the ballet tutu. I should make a youtube video! I am so proud of her I feel like a new mom! Okay a new grandma, maybe a new great grandma...something like that.

I hope you do a you tube video for the hair!!!! I would love to learn how to do the hair your way!!!! Just absolutely beautiful!!!!!! Please let us know if you do a video!

I agree on letting us know if you do a video. I love her hair also. Will it stay that way forever unless it gets wet?
by sgillette 13 Nov 2012
Yes, forever, unless it gets wet or the dog gets a hold of it! It's so bouncy and fun to play in.

Actually I am the little girl who is going to love this...she is my first and I am selfish. Some little girl(s) will enjoy the next ones. My goal is to make one for each of my kindergarten girls then I have to find something for the boys.

She is fantastic! You really did a great job. Very clever idea for the hair. Did you have any trouble with her neck? I considered buying this design but was unsure of the neck it looked so skinny to hold up that large head. Ido love Gerda's designs though. Hugs, Susan

Her head is a little wobbley but I don't feel like is a diasablity for her. I didn't like the way I stitched it the first time so I took it off and opened it up so it is a little more rounded than flat. You just stitch out the parts then hand stitch it together so you can reinforce it if you want.
