Well, I did it, I bought yet another machine. I am such a sewing machine HOARDER !!! I already have a Bernina 1230 (Love Love Love this machine), a Viking Designer I, a Babylock Elegante 2 and a Bernina serger. I just went ahead and, while watching HSN, had absolutely no choice - I just had to order the Singer heavy duty (special discounted price of $179 with no shipping) and the Singer LD550 (less than half price at $599 with no shipping). Both on Flex Pay so how could I go wrong?

Got both new machines last night and believe me when I say it KILLED me to have to come into work today and leave my new babies at home.

Does anyone have the Singer LD 550 yet? I haven't installed any of the programs or hooked up the embroidery unit yet and cannot wait until the weekend to start playing.

Please let me know your thoughts, advice, criticisms, etc. for this machine. I have until 1-31- to return it if I don't like it.

Thanks!
Lois W.

I ordered the Singer Futura Quartet and had to send it back because there were issues with the bobbin case popping out of place, You could see it jumping while embroidering. It sewed beautifully but i could not get it to embroider right. Hope you have good luck with yours but keep the packaging just in case you need to send it back. I had the UPS guy pick it up from my home and got my refund shortly after.

Congratulations on your new purchase, Lois. If this is what makes you happy, then enjoy them and your passion for sewing in good health. I'm sure, like a lot of us, you indulge yourself in one thing that u can't resist but will have to give up something else of a lesser priority.
Happy sewing.

I really debated on whether or not to buy the 550 because I do have 2 other embroidery machines. But, you know what? I'm a widow, I don't smoke, I don't drink, I spoil my grandkids on occasion, and other than sewing I have no "habits". As my daughter said, I do work hard for my money and it has been 3 years since I indulged myself. I do have some time to send it back if I don't like it, so that is my "cushion" so to speak. So, hopefully it was a good purchase and it will keep me happy for a few years (or until I see another "deal" ) LOL.

Congratulation on your purchase. I have 6 machines and 2 surgers and I thought I was out of control but I am reading that a lot of sewers have more than I do so I don't feel so bad. I am a hoarder when it comes to fabric and have no intentions of stopping. Plan on taking it with me when I die as I will want to sew in heaven and don't know if they have any fabric shops there, ha ha. Juanita
