We just received our Christmas Miracle !!My son an opp came home this morning after working all night ,to find his 2 sons and wife nearly dead from Carbon monoxide. He quickly dragged them all to the open door were they came to and were sick and he drove them all to the hospital There they all got oxygen for 2 hours ,and only remain with bad headache. They could have trouble from this for the next year the doctors say??Praise God for his protection another hour and the story could of been different. My 12 year old grandson Noah(who was born on my b/day)got up and cracked the damper right shut on their wood stove and it was raining there all night and the stove never went and let the carbon into the whole house.I have burned wood my whole life and never new wood could cause this trouble??Guess what i am buying when i get to town next???Anyways that my miracle hugs Carolyn

We have Carbon monoxide detectors in our houses! It's worth it, just like the smoke detectors. Give them an extra Christmas gift. Go to the hardware store or even Target and buy them one. They are so lucky to have survived!

Do they use a wood stove to heat the home or is it a supplement to a central furnace, I have a fire place but no longer use it. I would love to have gas logs, but we do not have natural gas in my area. Kay

Thank God your son came home when he did. Carbon monoxide is very
dangerous-I know. It happen to us when our boys were almost 1 year
and almost 2 years old. We had had a fire in our home and after the
repairs were made we moved back in. This was in Nov. 1966. The first
night back we woke up with violent headaches. Jack took us to his
Mother's were we stayed for a few hours and then we got better. The
next night when the heat came on the same thing happen. The house had smell after the fire and we got it cleaned again. Same thing happened next night.
Well Jack called the gas co. and they checked the heating system. The
exhaust vent had NOT BEEN RECONNECT TO VENT OUT SIDE. All
was coming in the house. They fixed the problem and we all were ok.
Hope all goes well for your son's family. Olds/Maureen

SO glad that they will be ok! Merry Christmas! I have an unflued gas heater in my house and in winter I often put up with the cold rather than use it because the smell from the gas is horrible and leaving the windows wide open for ventillation seems to just make everything colder. I have smoke detectors of course, but did not know you could get carbon monoxide detectors, too. Thanks for sharing your "Christmas miracle" with us.
