i like to put my dessign first then quilt. You have a beautiful design. If I were you I would just add a solid piece of blue on the back and sew a few straight lines through it to help tack it on. Then I would redo the border just the way you have it. Hugs

Everyone has their own way of quilting. I think there is some way to put the design on then add the backing and quilt around the design without going through the design. Not everyone has the same software that can edit out the design from the stippling and it still is a preference to what you like.

In Embird, you can use the "mask" function to do this.

Well, you could change the bobbin thread with each color change if the backside really bothers you a lot. Then it'd be reverseable. What you want to avoid is a large area of fabric flopping around because it hasn't been quilted or stitched down. I like how you changed colors in the satin stitch border! It gave a little extra design element to it. Did you use any stabilizer in the design?

I think she's cute. I never thought to do a wide satin stitch around it! A pot holder?? Either way's cute, but I agree, I think it'd do the design first, then add the back.

I am with you. I like the design first so it does not show on the back. You are right - you don't know till you try.
My machine sometimes does funky things to the back, but stitches out OK on the top. I like it best when the back is hidden on whatever I make, but you can't always do that. What are you going to use this block for now?
