Another one that went to Germany for another cousin. I appliqued the Waratahs on the front pocket using the broderi perse method, using mono filament (invisible thread) and tiny zig zag stitch to applique .This is the last bag because there are no more 'till I make more!
The words are, "Greetings from Australia".

She was. And you know what? While she was traipsing around Australia on a working holiday, her mum "borrowed" it!

Ricky, what a lovely bag, where did you get that pretty design? I have never seen that Waratah flower before. I love it. *4U

Shirlene, It was a piece of fabric with Aust. flowers on it. I fussy cut them then appliqued them to the piece of material. It is not an embroidery design.Ricky.
Oh - darn, I am dissapointed. As I am sure I will never find the fabric.
Nice technique!
Shirl,You can get beautiful Australian fabrics in New Zealand. Yes, New Zealand. As soon as I find their web address I will pass it on.It is in some of my patchwork magazines.I had to go to several shops here in Adelaide before I found these.Ricky
Hmmmmmm - so they can be bought online? Send me the link - via email if you find it.
