Good morning cuties,

Here are a couple of FSL doilies I made last week, the first I did with regular embroidery thread and is from Secrets of emb. digitizer Embroidery Necessity #055. The second I wanted a different look and embroidered using 100% cotton thread and regular embroidery thread in the bobbin. This one is from Secrets as well digitizer is stitch delight SD972. Note that I have not been able to find this design on her site. I love how they both turned out but prefer the second one. Am trying these out for a large family reunion we will be having this summer. We are having a barn dance and these will be used on our tables for the supper event. Oh what fun we will have.
thanks for looking
hugs
Michelle

Forgot to ask, does anyone have any doily designs to suggest that are just a little larger, say 5 x 7.
thanks

They both turned out lovely! Isn't there a special name for the style of the first one? I just can't think of it now. Maybe "battenburg" or "bobbin lace?"

Thank you Penny
I don't know about a name, I think battenburg is somewhat
of a looser stitch though

They are almost 6 inches in diameter, just the right size for under a candle holder.

These are two of my favorite doily designs - I prefer the 1st I like the daintiness of it & it is larger - the 2nd is heavier, but stitches lovely.

I bought this one from Stitch Delight...it is two pieces that form one large motif...finished it should be about 24" in diameter...Sweet! Looks like I bought at the right time...I paid $1.00! Now it is showing $16.00! Sweeter! Can't wait to make it.

They are both beautiful, but I also prefer the thicker one, it has more depth to it and looks really strong. I hope you get them all made for the reunion. They will be a talking piece amongst the families. Love and blessings Chris

Both are very pretty Michelle!

Today Stitch Deight has one on the dollar page that is 16 inches across.
http://www.stitchdelight.net/proddetail.asp?prod=SD509

It is a Fillet Crochet doily but really nice.

Would look great in the cotton thread or embroidery thread.

I especially like the one you have made with cotton. It has more depth and more of a vintage look which I think suits doiles.
