Tray cloth or placemat?

Don't know what it is going to be. I just had to try and make the design to fit my largest hoop (200x360 mm). It has 33011 stitches and took a long time to stitch. But I could never have done it by hand in one and a half hour.
Used variegated thread for the roses.

Very pretty. I think it would be a nice placemat because I like making them.

Thank you. That means I'd have to make a pair and this was my last piece, so I think tray cloth after all.

Nice! Love the cross stitch...love that you used verigated thread for the roses, too...cuts down on the color changes needed to really make cross stitch pop!

Thank you.
Yes, it does that, but it is always a gamble, not knowing where the spots of light and dark will be. Turned out nice here.

That is pretty enough to frame!
Having hoops larger than 5x7 inches opens up such possibilities!

Thank you.
It does, but these designs are easy to split and line up again.

Yoriko has 3 rose designs on her site, and a corner might follow. I just combined them and had fun.

I've got a Designer Ruby that came with 2 hoops, a 120x120 mm and this 200x360. I gave my old Designer1 to my daughter but kept the extra hoops I had bought for it, like a 100x170. Problem with those large hoops is the free area you need around your machine and that includes sitting well back from the machine.

Beautiful and wherever you want your red varigated pretty roses to be enjoyed. I would probably go tray because if a placemat it would get stained faster. I know my grunge crowd. They like nice but don't respect it as I think they should.

I first thought tray, than maybe a placemat, but then I would need at least too. So it has to be the tray after all.

Those cross stitch roses are just perfect with the variegated thread! Really gives them life, and it doesn't look like variegated, looks like all different thread changes. Marvellous! I'll have to try cross stitch with variegated, doesn't always work so well with regular fill stitches, unless digitized for it. Tray cloth would be perfect, spring's coming, drinks on the patio with the ladies, they will be jealous of your roses, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji

Thanks Marji. I agree, variegated can be a gamble when used for fill stitches, far less so for satin and I was amazed at how well it stitched in the roses. I must admit I had tried a single one first.
Spring, wouldn't that be lovely :)

this would make a lovely tray cloth OR a place mat, but I am leaning more toward a tray cloth. A more proper way to show of your beautiful cloth. Your design is so elegant and so well done. Love the way the varigated thread worked out. Lois W.
