Last one - you must be getting bored by now.

I remembered I had my father's book-cover which I made for a wedding anniversary ages ago, in the popular colours of the time - brown, orange and green. The ship is a traditional design on Dutch samplers and I duly put 5 children plus the parents on it as well as their initials and the wedding date. I embroidered one on linen for my in-laws as well as they got married in the same year, had it framed and got that when my MiL died, must be somewhere in a cupboard.
Today I digitised this sampler, more or less copied the ship (had to use a magnifying glass to count the crosses!), used different colours, added 2 boys and 2 girls, and a few extras. I can easily changed initials and use it for friends who have a golden anniversary in August.

And remember, it was you who got me started again, I had only used it occcasionally before as I rather did cross stitch by hand. But it is fun for a quick gift. I'm working on lots of traditional motifs and borders that can be put together quickly in a sampler - as long as you save them as .krz files you can open them easily in cross stitcher and move them where you want them.

Thanks. I've seen those as well, but not many on traditional Dutch samplers.

It looks wonderful. I like the updated colors you used, and the little heart and grape clusters add a nice fresh touch. Well done!

What a wonderful memory you have created. I love it when embroidery has such a special meaning for someone. I like to do that as well.
You have digitized it perfectly, again.
