I've been playing with cross stitch again. The first design needs some tweaks and a border yet but I'll put the simpler one in DBC. Even my husband thinks that these look hand stitched!

I've used ordinary sewing thread as it seems to look more authentic than embroidery thread. I did try the smaller design with variegated vintage thread from my stash. It stitched beautifully, but the design didn't stand out.

I Love it !Looks very charming. I thought this with the other one you made. Home Sweet Home or Be it Ever So Humble No Place Like Home. I love the flowers with the first one. I let my son dabble on my cross stitch yesterday while I worked on other computer. What he did looked great and he tossed it. I told him whaaaah I would have used that once I realized he tossed.

The frame is a nice finish for the design. Now it looks like a sampler.

You always do good work! so creative and down to earth! A long time ago ladies had to hand embroider and really done a good job but it took forever. We are so lucky to have machines that will do it for us. Of course we have to work at it too but it is a lot faster!

Oh wow, how beautiful they turned out, yes the other thread does make a difference. I am going through the same process. I found this site where many of the old and beautiful cross stitch grids are given by someone who is gathering them and we are able to get them free. I love the Sajou brand of letters, most are so gorgeous. I have done this one, but look through the site as there are tons more, I also love Sajou 603 and 604, they are all over on the internet, you will recognize them.

I love this design. I started my love for embroidery by beginning hand counted cross stitch many years ago. It's only been recent that I have been using machine cross stitch designs. I feel as though I'm committing a huge sin, but cross stitch will always be my first love, regardless if it's machine or hand. Thank you!
