Hi Cuties, I would like your opinions please.

My niece got married a couple of weeks ago and her new husband is a helicopter pilot.
Ray and I gave them a cash amount as their main wedding gift, but I had purchased a complete set of gorgeous deep purple bathroom towels to give them, I chose that colour as my niece laughingly said all her towels were pink and poor Andrew just had to put up with it. LOL!!!
Now here is my dilemma, I have agonised over what to embroider on them... In the last two weeks I have digitised countless monogram sets, combined several purchased designs into sets, searched all my purchased monograms, I've tried everything but nothing I have come up with makes me truly happy.
I mean, what man wants to dry himself on towels with a swan and lilies or flowery monograms?
Anywho, I was lying in bed thinking, as we do, and it hit me like a lightning bolt.....
What if I was to put their monogram on the side of a helicopter?
So (below) is what I came up with and I was thinking perhaps I could embroider the chopper in the same colour as the towels and that would mean only the monogram would be noticeable at first glance.
Or I could choose a different colour, maybe silver for the chopper and match the monogram colour to the towel.
What do you all think?
Is the design acceptable for embroidering on a wedding gift or should I keep looking?
What about the colours?
My niece is very special to me so I want to give her something special. Your comments would be most appreciated. TIA, hugs and roses, Meg

Hi Meganne, your niece is special to you as you must be special to her. Therefore she knows about your machine embroidery, so with all the information you have given us it has shown that you have put a great deal of thought into the above design. I am sure she will be delighted with your great present. Lucky couple to receive a gift that is specially created for them. My last comment is to chose a colour that shows up the chopper as well as the monogram. Anyone I have given embroidered towels to is delighted that I have created something special for them. Happy embroidering and it must be very late or somewhat early in your bit of the world?

I like your idea of the helicopter more matching the towel color--not identical but a shade somewhat darker or lighter. This is one of your works-of-heart...They are going to be outstanding and very special!

I think you have done a wonderful job and you should not spend another moment worrying about it. You have created a beautiful design; out of love, with a lot of energy and time put into it. The design is one that should confirm to him that he is now a part of a beautiful and loving family, not to mention talented! As for the design itself, it is perfect, goes with his profession and it's not too "froo-froo" for him to wipe his manly face or hands on. Great Job! I personally like contrasting colors so it will pop. I would want to see the helicopter.

Dear Meg: As are all your designs, this is a great one. I would go with your first thought on what you wanted to do. If it was me, I would want the design to show up.
So glad your back with us. I missed you.
Hugs Jerri

Well Meganne, I have done all ours with a lovely but nearly plain embrossed monogram from Emb Library, what is suitable for all.
However I do love your helicopter and If it was me I would do the helicopter in siver and letters matching the towel.
What a special present it will be and loved by all I expect. Good luck!

This is a catch 22 question. Like the design for a man and would a woman want to towel off with a helicopter towel? Not sure --- only you know the couple better. Could you save this design and put in on a special towel for his birthday or for a Christmas present. Difficult when we over think ourselves. Let us know what you settle on.

Meg you put so much thought into this design. Personally I would want the helicopter to show up and not disappear into the back ground. How about like his and hers where one helicopter is silver like metal and hers is pink? What ever you choose she knows how much of your heart is in this project.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments and ideas.
My niece Natalie is really proud of Andrew and she is so much in love with him, I think she will be thrilled with the helicopter, especially since, (and I wasn't going to divulge this) she is a Betty Boop fan so I have been digitising her face to put on the front of the helicopter, (if I can get it small enough without losing the definition).
I thought I could then put a helicopter & "A" on one hand towel and Betty & "N" on the other hand towel, then just their initial on each face washer.
I'll take all the answers on board and do some test stitch outs before I do the towel set. I'll put the finished set in projects when it's all finished. hugs and roses to all, Meg

Love the 'copter idea!! Who else would have helicopter monogrammed bath towels? The whole neighbourhood will be parading through their bathroom just to get a look at them, hee hee hee. Super thoughtful, really, and I would do the copter in silver, make it stand out. Looking forward to seeing these, hugs, Marji

I love this Meg and I had a look at the colour of the towels when I was at your place on Thursday. The silver helicopter will look fabulous and I'd do a pink one for Natalie! Thoughtful as always! Love Chris

How wonderful. And later, looks like there's room for 4 letters - Baby on a blanket, burp cloth, etc.

I love the 'copter, it will look great, in silver or in a light purple. Hope you find the ideal combination when you test it. It will be such a thoughtful present!

love and they will too! I would do them all the same and have the helicopter show up. More then likely they have 2 bathrooms and can have the fluffy ones in one and helicopters in other.

Do the chopper in silver and the lettering to match the towel.

WOW! sounds like the silver chopper and towel colour text is the most popular choice so I think I'll have to go with that idea, which I should tell you all that I only thought of while I was typing the original post. The more I think about it the more I like it.
Thank you all so very much. hugs n roses, Meg
