Fabulous sewing kit Sue and the fabric is perfect! Maybe those little threads in the dollar shops might fit the 4. If thread size to fit the 4 is too much of a problem maybe having the elastic to only hold 2 or 3 threads instead would make it easier. It'll still be a sewing kit I know I would be more than happy to have in my sewing bag.

That looks pretty good, Sue. Great fabric choice and sewout too, Rescuer! I'm pretty sure we can get reels like those here in Australia if one looks around for them. Sue, if one could come by cheap bobbins, maybe winding ones own and installing them under that elastic might be an option? It may then make the complete kit a bit more wide than might be what you had planned :) Is that a proper thimble, fixed to make like a button/toggle? Very clever and adds to the look.

I love this sewing kit. It seems to me that it is for travel so we don't need a lit of thread. We could wind the thread on bits of cardboard to fit under the elastic if our spools are too large.

Great job! I can't help you with the thread roll size, but I also believe that could just use a piece of cardboard to wrap your thread around. Just want to add that your fabric choice and the thimble makes it perfect.

In some of the store bought sewing kits have small spools, then there could be 2 rows of elastic. I will look for some later.

Looks great and the small spools could fit but as already suggested thread wound onto a piece of cardboard to fit area or popsicle stick. I love your fabric and the awesome button.

We can get thread spools by Sulky here that would probably fit. Possibly Mettler and Auri-fil, also.

The pictures are of Sue's stitch out. She does a great job of finding button and fabric treasures! I tried all the small spools from Mettler, Gutermann, and Sulky to no avail. I looked at different shops in my area for the narrow spools shown in Sue's pictures without success.
I love the idea and the scissors pouch is awesome!

The material is fabulous for it. The only thing with it smaller is that this one would do for travel for in the suitcase as would not be allowed in hand luggage either with needle and scissors. Otherwise a bit bigger would be better I think. wonder how it works out with 150 wide.

i love this,such a great idea. I can't tell for sure, but are you using elestic to hold the thread spools? If so, maybe you could make it just a bit longer and go down to 2 or 3 loops as for mending that would usually be enough colors.

Wow you've done it again.. we mainly use gutterman's..Can i suggest instead of 4 thread loops, make them a bit larger and hold 3..or 1 loop to hold however many will fit..Love the fabric and the thimble button is perfect..Thanks for sharing

I have threads of all different sizes. My thoughts are if the spools are the larger size to have a design with the elastic that would hold two or three spools so the case would shut. And the little tiny short ones maybe to make two stacked rows. The little tiny ones are usually found in a pharmacy or convenience/dollar store. Or fill bobbins to use in the kit. A smaller width of elastic would sit right in the bobbin walls.
