SUE'S APRIL CHALLENGE

I told Chris (pennifold) that I was making a shirt for myself and that my DH said it looked like material for pyjamas. I decided to add some embroidery (Paisley from SewForum) which I cut various parts out for the sleeves and back of collar. The material is 100% cotton seersucker. The stripes were murder to match up as you can see in the cuffs.

It's beautiful Sarah and I love the way that you have matched the pocket with the lines in the shirt! Also the paisley design is really sweet on the shirt and sleeves. A beautiful shirt pattern to boot! Love and blessings Chris

Chris - this is the straight shirt from the pattern - the other that I posted was the fitted one. I keep saying I am not doing any more stripes!!!!

Thank you Vicki. I would describe the material as a seersucker calico - if there is such a thing.

Beautiful work! Stripes are so difficult but you did a great job!
It is pretty enough to be a shirt and some of the pajamas I have seen recently look like soft pretty shirts.
Perhaps your husband had pajamas on his mind. ;)

It looks fantastic and would be really comfortable to wear in that fabric too. Whatever you wear with it or over the top would take away from your man's PJ's ideas :) Another idea for future use might be to try some of the fancy buttonhole surrounds -that would also give it a lift, like your added paisley designs do.

Your construction is excellent with nice details. I took a garment back because it was expensive and the strips were off bias. They looked at me like I was a crazy person. lol

Thank you Anita. I nearly go mad if I want to buy a garment with stripes going around and the manufacturers have not bothered to match the sides up..........
