And Good Morning to all! I finally finished the jelly roll quilt I began last year, for my daughter. I'm not happy with the top part at the pillow, how else could I have done this end?

I am no quilt expert but I think its lovely. I also know that we are never 100% satisfied with anything we have made! So you have to tell yourself it is beautiful and believe it. Hugs.

I think it is beautiful, also. Are you unhappy w/top that covers pillows? Make another lattice strip long enuf to top the pillows & stitch it across the fold over for pillows-- you can appliqué it to already finished quilt by hand. Would that please you? Tho it doesn't really need anything more!

The quilted pillowcase/sham finishes off the top of the quilt nicely.

i'm not sure what your not happy with it looks great to me.. the only suggestion i can make is maybe put the design like the cushion into the last border, so it looks like a pillow on top, does that make sense..

The pillow needs to have the same 'V" shaped design in it (as the quilt does) but it really is gorgeous and if you are at least a little happy with it as it is - then leave it - looks good as is ! Or maybe make a bigger pillow with the design in the 'V' shape to put up on the top of the bed also ??? Put both pillows on the top - I think that is what is missing. The quilt is perfect as it is - top and bottom are the same, that is right.Just looks empty at the top and that is what is wrong (my opinion - that is all )

Well, I call this pioneer braid and it's one of my all-time favourite patchwork designs. Looking at this quilt from the foot of the bed gives the look of rows of sand dunes or lines of hills and it's a lovely 3D effect. I'm not sure what you're not happy with but I don't think the pillow is big enough to do this size pioneer braiding on it successfully and what you have done looks very, very attractive to me in this sort of log cabin spiral. If you had enough fabric left, maybe another pillow to match this one to sit beside it might balance the set up in your eyes but, honestly, the set looks really, really beautiful as it is and it fits the bed perfectly.

Been giving this some thought, driving into sewing class and back. If your daughter is of an age (and who isn't??) where she might like long-legged rag dolls, maybe a pair of dolls, e.g. she+she or she+he, one each side of the pillow, clothing using any left-over quilt scraps, would look rather special. Good for hugging while reading or talking to friends on her cell phone, too.
All the girls in my family, ages 4, 15, 23, 49, 52, 53, would love that idea.
I have dolls sitting on my pillow and I'm 77 and, yes, I am an Aussie and we are, generally, a queer mob, as they say..... :}
