I finally had some time yesterday to make something for myself. I found this paw print material at the quilt shop a couple of weeks ago not knowing what I was going to do with it. I decided to make placemats for my round table. I love bright colors and it's so hard to find placemats for the round tables in the store. My grandson is going to love them, My little Schnauzer Butch, and my grandson are pretty good buddies.

Thank you, It's hard to dress up a round table, I also have an 18 inch leaf for it, but for just the two of us most of the time, I like it smaller.

These look really great with their rounded tops making room for a serving dish and the bottoms fitting the table.
Any pawprint left over to make Butch a handsome kerchief?

Thank you. Very little material left over. Just scraps. I will try to get a couple more yards, but the shop is over an hour away so I don't get that way to often.
Have a look at this site.

You could use any fabric and stitch the scraps onto it, e.g. plain black homespun with the scraps stitched randomly. You certainly wouldn't need two more yards of the fabric for a dog kerchief but it's tricky and you do need more than you'd imagine. I guess Butch would need about an 18" or 20" square (I'd get a fat quarter and square it up ) and then he'd have two kerchiefs.
Just a thought and I'm so good at making plans for other people's time...... sigh.... :}

OK....OK ... further to this advice... I'm about to stitch up a kerchief for Baci, my little ball of white fur with a dog inside. She just loves dressing up and I've never actually seen such an easy dog kerchief pattern before. I'll have to find some princess stuff for her, though. She has Attitude and thinks she's a Rotty Princess. Has us under her paw, anyway.
Gosh!! we're way off placemats here.......
