Cross stitch ITH pincushion

It fits a 4x4 hoop, the crosses are 1.8 mm and I used 30wt cotton thread to embroider. I digitised it in 2 colours, seperate colour for the hearts, but used only one in this case.

Thank you. Colours are a bit bleached by the flash and look brighter in reality.

Nice cross stitch design. I also really like functionality! I think I have made one of yours when I first started here.

Pincushions make nice gifts and I hate to have a load of tests just lying around. Not that I don't have a nice bunch waiting to be used in a quilt :)

Very nice - looks good on that fabric as well!

Thanks. The thickness of warp and weft are different, but I could get it straight. I don't like a cross stitch design slightly rotated - it gives the game away.

Very nice, I love the fabric with the thread. I am trying to learn. I never did cross stitch younger years as it was for old ladies then ...... well I am old lady now and I think it is neat. If my eyes keeps up with rest of me I plan on doing more because I intend on getting whole lot older

I guess I qualify as an old lady too and still love doing it by hand, but for fast and easy nothing beats machine embroidery.

I do hand cross stitching and you would never know this was done on the machine.

I do both and hooping it as perfectly as I can, I can hardly see the difference.

Beautiful....You lined it up perfectly. I'd never have guessed it was machined. ;)

This was a rather sturdy fabric, so hooping was easy. When using linen I starch it and make sure it's hooped straight. And yes, it look like the real handmade thing. People who don't like my ME (you have one of those machines that do it all by themselves) like the far easier and faster cross stitch. So I don't tell :)

That came out very nice, such pretty colors there, it is very trendy.
I have not tried a pincushion, though I have seen a ton of these small things on the many French sites, seems the biscornu is the popular style which I have yet to try. I found a very nice video on Youtube that showed how to do sew it together by machine, I really need to try it. It works the same, a small square, looks simple from this.

Just wondering what do you fill your pincushion with to make them effective? I know the ones I have purchased had a hard substance, to keep the shape from all the pushing of pins.

Thanks for your inspiration,

Linda V

I did quite a few biscrnu last year and like the shape. Made some 'normal' embroidery designs for it.

and also a sampler style

I just use fiberfill to stuff them and they keep the shape. You have to put far more in than you think you'll need to get them nice and sturdy.
