Cuties please help. I've been asked to run a monthly craft class at a nursing home. I have no idea of things to make to are easy enough but not childish and of course cheap. Any ideas please??? ta, Lyn. xx

Door hangers (Welcome, Do Not Disturb). Make fleece lap blankets. Neck pillows. Knitting, crochet, plastic canvas crafts. Think of the next upcoming holiday and plan ahead. They could make it for their rooms or give to a family member.

You might ask for offal from textile makers, if you are close to one. A dressmaker may have scraps for the asking.

Making cards with cards already sent. I hope you get the idea.
working with teabagpaper
Ask family of the patients for material. Maybe you get nice things.
With old bicycle-tires you can make wonderful things.
From old tshirts make your own yarn and wove them so there becomes a bag,

Make a paper quilt and staple onto a bulletin board for some ongoing cheer. I did this on my $0 art budget with 8th graders years ago. Just provide lots of colors and textures of paper and scissors and ask them to cut out something from their life. (Ask a print shop to save you their trimmings.) We had enormous variety from hamburgers to hearts with I love Mom. Their family members will have fun trying to guess which one is Mom's or Dad's. Have them help you give the quilt a name.

The residents of an adult day care center made hats using newspaper and acrylic paint. Add water to the paint or not according to your budget.
Day 1 Spread out the pages of the paper and paint one side, let dry and paint the other.
Day 2 Take 2 pages (Full size, double pages), crisscross the pages and
center on the head of the wearer, mold to the head and run a layer of tape around the head to fasten the newspapers in the shape of their head. Trim the edges into a round shape brim and ribbon over the tape.
Add bow, streamers, flowers as they chose.
Last day: Have a Fashion Show.
Have others, but will have to list them later.
