I am working on towels. I purchased the tear away/wash away stabilizer and it is so thick. I assume I only hoop the stabilizer and then use temporary adhesive? But then how do I hold down the topping? I heard ironing the pile first helps - do I starch it also? Thank you I really want these to be perfect.

just lay it where your design will be, do the 'tacking down' before you begin your embroidery and you will have no problem

i lay it on top and pin with wee small pins the 4 corners @!!!Works for me and i don't half to buy spray lol hugs

I used to struggle with hooping towels till I read here to only hoop the stabilizer and like Carol said, pin the corners. I do use a little temporary spray or glue stick on the edges and then lay the the topping on top. Works out fine. Lately instead of the topping I use very fine tulle. It tears of easy and really stops the design from sinking in.

Excellent idea for topping. I needed tulle for other things, I did not know it came in different weights (so to speak). I will look out for this.

I hoop my stabilizer spray it with temp adheisive and place my towel on it. I float the topping loose and when it starts to sew it will stay in place. I have done lots of towels with no problems. Hope this helps! Suzanne

I always just hoop the towel with thin washaway on the top and works fine for me. good luck

Hi Christine - I always hoop the stabilizer when embroidering towels as I am terrified of trying to hoop the towel and breaking my hoop. I also pin the WSS at each corner. I use long pins which I bend in the middle. It makes pinning the corners a piece of cake!!! Hope all your answers help.

Me too! I have ripped plenty of stabilizer, so it is good that this stuff is thick, I have not done, trying to get my courage up again. I tried the easy way I thought I had early success with it.

I hoop the stabiliser, towel and Washaway all together and have never had any problem with it.

I tried that. Too thick, and I am not willing to chance my hoop.
I still have not attempted again.
