I am absolutely 'shocked to my socks'. The day before I went away I sent 2 rose buds to our local rose show. They were very short of blooms as our summer has been so hot. Just look what I won - a 2nd and 3rd. Not only did I receive the rosettes but I also received a large spray bottle with pump (very fancy) and a large bag of rose fertilizer!!!!! The first thing I have ever won. Sarah.

Thank you Dennis. My grandmother used to grow the most beautiful roses when I was younger living in England.

Thank you Babsie - I normally do not do this kind of thing but I sent in two roses as they were so short due to the very hot weather.

Congradulations! I love roses but mine are far from the quality of yours.

Congratulations. I used to love growing roses while we still had a house. In the apartment it is difficult because there is no personal garden. I hope you will enjoy your lovely prize.

Most of my roses are in pots - so much easier to deal with.

Congratulations! That is an awesome surprise. When we lived close to my girlfriend who's family had a farm they would give me manure and her mom showed me how to use dish detergent and mix with water to keep the bugs off. They were pretty then but I couldn't get them to grow when we moved to another state. Were you able to snap a picture of them and the spray bottle?

Congrats. And wonderful they gave you prizes you will use. I remember when I had 100 rose bushes and took my red cup of detergent and water around to flick the Japanese beetles into it! "It is not enough to love the flowers; you must hate the weeds." (Forgot who said that) - and hate the destructive insects. I used to absorb myself in garden books in winter, now I just stitch up a lot of flower designs.

Congratulations. The roses where I live in Australia have been struggling due to all the rain.

Thank you. Roses are not easy. I live in S. Africa and our weather is much the same as yours, except we have had no rain for weeks and weeks.
