I don't know about Embird, but try Tajima's Pulse Ambassador, free at the Tajima site. It will let you see a virutal sew out, all kinds of things. You can't digitize on it, but it tells you how many stitches, shows colors, etc. You can also watch it sew the design on the computer, see jump stitches, and I think change formats.
