Penguin Mug Mat - my version of Sue's cute creation. My SIL's neice is a huge fan of the Penguins professional Hockey team, so I thought I should make her a mug rug to use while she watches them in their run for the Stanley Cup this year. I added the tummy text and the ribbon loop. Hope you like it, and thanks to Sue for her generousity!!

Thanks Carolyn. Maybe it will bring them some good luck - I heard they will face-off against Ottawa in round 2, starting this week.

Thanks, but I can't take credit for all the stitching. Sue D. did a wonderful job digitizing this little guy. I just filled his tummy...

Thanks so much. I used a very dark grey for the eyes, instead of black to give him a little more dimesion. I like them, too!

She promised to use this little mug mat for the rest of the play-off season, since she will watch the games from home now. Hope he brings them luck!!

Thanks Sue - I used all scrap pieces for this (polar fleece for the backing, white flannel for his tummy, and a faux suede for the black front piece). I also adhered a layer of cutaway stablizer on top of the black tear-away piece I had hooped, so it would be a little more sturdy. He is so cute and feels fuzzy on top with the flannel. Thanks so much for sharing your design with us!!!
