The Good Old Days:
I thought that you might like to see this piece of embroidery comprising 51,632 stitches (5x7) and twelve colours, which was painstakingly digitized for me by Vicki of Basketkase Designs. The design was from the remnants of the front cover of a music sheet, believed to date back to the early 1900's.
Being an ex 'smoke eater' myself, the subject of the history of firefighting and rescue techniques throughout the world is a particular interest of mine. In fact, some might describe me as a bit of an 'anorak' ........lol.
This is the first stitch-out of the piece and I think it is fabulous. I owe a debt of gratitude to Vicki for putting up with my "could you change this?" and "could you just do that?" over several days. Thank you Vicki.

This is a true example of Vicki's work. She is fantastic with clipart and asking her to do this for you was a great idea. Just look at the finished product. She truely is the clipart Queen. Great job.

This is brilliant! My son asked me recently if there was anyone who might be able to digitise one of his bits of art work, for me to embroider, when he is ready, I'll have to contact Vicki. Her work is fantastic, I've already embroidered one of her designs, an owl, which I framed.

Now, I know one or two of you have expressed an interest in this piece and I am happy to oblige in due course. However, I have since come across another old picture which is even more realistic and which I am hoping that Vicki may agree to apply her creative skills. To this end, I shall be going on bended knee to ask if she would be prepared to undertake this task at some point. I hope that you will be content to wait a little longer but if this new picture cannot be digitized because of poor picture quality, then I will be happy to post this design for your personal use.
