gerry, I also don't know a heck of a lot, BUT I can tell you that I attended a 2-day seminar over the weekend all about 4D viking software and many of the ladies had vista and no problems. Personally I still have an old computer with XP and don't have any problems. I used to have 3D again with XP. I guess what I'm trying to say is that no one expressed any problems with 3D or 4D w/Vista. Good luck and ***4u

What I have been tould is you have to partition the hard drive and run Xp on one part and vista on the other or may be you could a by external hardrive and run xp on that or the other alternative is to wipe out vista and reinstall xp

i know some one who had the same prob with vista and brother she had to get a patch for it don't know if it was a download or got it from dealer.

You can get new computers with XP if you ask .They will take Vista out and put XP on for you.I refuse to have Vista! I don't know about Viking 3D, but with my Janome software there is now an update available to make it Vista compatible.If you go into their site and check for updates it might tell you. Otherwise ring the people you bought it of, or the supplier.Good luck.

Gerry Thank goodness I don't know much about Vista. I have XP . But hope you can get things straightened out. A flower for those headaches.

I don't believe 3D will run with Vista. 3D was designed before the new stuff (pardon my techinical term) was designed for Vista. My sister just got a new computer with Vista and bought (did a trade-up) the 4D Extra and seems to be working fine. You may try contacting Viking to see what they say. Our dealer said you could trade up to 4D until Dec.1. However, another one said you couldn't. It is worth a try.

in Aust you can pay to have vista taken off your computer and XP put on lots of people I know have done it .lots of programs won't run on vista ,about $50

I have vista & have had trouble with it. Embird did not work until a friend told me to download it by right click mouse and click on open as adminstrator. It now works. You can also put a second harddrive in and use this as xp
