Letterman Jacket Project.

Hello everyone, I have decided to tackle fixing my lettermans jacket from many years ago. the letters were embroidered on incorrectly but I didn't have the ability to fix it back then. Now my goal is to have it at least wearable for an event next year, but I would like it to be without the misspelled embroidery showing. It is on the upper left side of the jacket.
It has been in storage, hanging on a hanger, so there is minimal fading and it is for the most part in good condition. The store I purchased and customized the jacket at is no longer in business and I live in a different city now.
Would you recommend that I find a professional embroider, or has too much time passed and it will never be fixable?
