My SIL and her friend, both 65 years old, are coming to stay soon and I'm going to make them a mattress pocket each for their night time reading magazines and eye-glasses. The small pockets will have embroidered initials. I think this is a brilliant idea.
Then.... I'd like to make all the GC and GGC a mattress pocket each for Christmas.

I saw this and thought of the same thing..however, I think I would do one that slides between mattress and boxsprin so it doesn't wrinkle up if they were restless sleepers like I am... when you turn back the covers it would be exposed to them as a gesture of welcome. (both by turning the covers back and books...Like you I am making one for my GD and one for my mother for when she visits and stays...
