wow just stunning, look forward to see what you do first with this smocking...I have done a small amount of traditional smocking by hand but don't have the time and patience any longer to do it...definitely something very beautiful..

My grandmother made satin pillows exactly like these. What's old is new again!

Good luck on your new adventure! I first learned to smocked by connecting dots. I smocked pleated dresses for my grand daughter.
I no longer smock. GD is 21. I prefer to do machine stitching as to hand.
I look forward to seeing your show and tell.olds/Maureen

I found these when I was looking for pillow instructions for a rosette type satin pillow....that my Grandma got in either British Columbia or Saskatchewan, Canada probably around 70 or 80 years ago. I'm going from memory as those pillows have been gone for at least 20 years now, not sure what my mother did with them? But either she or my Grandma watched them being made and I was told they took yards and yards of satin and stitched it to a round piece of fabric. I want to reproduce them for myself as a memory of my Mom and Grandma. I remember one being a Burgundy Satin but for the life of me can't remember what color the other one was? Probably was a color I didn't care for so it didn't stick in my brain. Funny how that is, I hoping someday I will have the time to do the things I want to.
