Dragonflyer's lovely dresses inspired me to revisit an idea I shelved sometime ago, frustrated by too small hoops. I made this little dress in my 200mm square hoop. You may not believe it, but I can't find any suitable buttons for the shoulders! It is all made ITH except for the side seams and hem. I wanted to capture the traditional style of baby clothes that my daughter had when she was small (which hadn't changed since I was small!)

That's a lovely dress. Those simple dresses are all time favorites, though now they wear them with long sleeved T-shirts and leggings - I used them for my daughters as summer dresses.
Could you cover buttons with a fuzzy cut bouquet of the skirt material?

Very sweet, Sue. Little bee buttons might be nice on this, if the recipient isn't afraid of bugs :)

How very sweet, love those flowers in cross stitch. I agree, buttons are so hard to come by now. I have a large stash of vintage buttons but none are small enough for such little items. I agree with Mops, in using covered buttons, I bought a large amount of them a few years ago for just such items.

This is adorable, Sue. How about some little FSL buttons? They could look just like the flowers. Then maybe have actual little snaps to secure the shoulders.... If you send me the flowers in a row, I will turn them into FSL for you....

Actually, I don't think cross stitch would work on a FSL base...

Buttons are the bane of my life!!!!! This little dress is exquisite. You are getting so clever Sue.
Have just noticed this is an old post. Good for some of the newbies to see.

This is lovely Sue, I've made similar ones for my 8 month old GD, but not in the hoop. That one is really pretty, I love that style for little ones. Jo

I wish that I could hand to you, through the screen here, some little daisy buttons from my stash! You COULD embroider some tiny matching flowers to cover your own........hmmmmmm
