My niece's best friend had a baby girl two weeks after her. I just had to make one for the new baby as well. Here's her gown that I made from the mother's wedding dress. I loved making this princess dress. Both are from Burda pattern 9649.

Wow - that sure is a beautiful Christening Gown. Such a wonderful momento (and sure to become a family heirloom!) to use the mum's wedding gown fabric. Really nicely done!!

Both mothers of the babies cried with such appreciation and joy when they saw the gowns that it made it all worth it!

She looked so beautiful on her christening day. Do you think I should post her picture in the dress?

I enjoyed making it. I love working with lace. I had a hard time taking the wedding dress apart. It was so lovely.

I use this pattern as a blank to re-draft off of since it has several sizes included (from 6 mos. to 18 mos.). So, It'll last through the first few years. Then, I'll enlarge the pattern pieces as the child grows. I don't buy many patterns and love to draft my own when I can. The 'Net is so helpful to find ideas and samples to get you thinking!
