Have you ever seen one of our military walking past you and wanted to convey to them your thanks, but weren't sure how or it felt awkward?

Recently, a gentleman from Seattle created a gesture which could be used and has started a massive movement to get the word out.

Thank you Shirlene. My son had three tours to Iraq and the last one was not good. He is adapting to his disability but I know it means a lot to him when someone he doesn't know comes up and says thank you. He has told me he would go back again, but of course he is not able to. Bless you for caring.

Thank you all for your sincere comments. You made me cry. Guess my son is taking everything better than me. My husband was in Viet Nam and Dessert Storm and came home safe. Our son says he feels lucky because he is better of than most of the men and women coming home. He is a very proud to be a Marine and we are very proud of him. Love to you all.

God bless the military for what they do for not just there homeland but for all mankind to bring securiety peace and love to all and that is what they do .And they love they show us by doing it.They sacrifice there safty for our.

dkjack my father was in vietnam he came home alive just not the same i always say thank you to any military i see and it puts a smile on their face

Thank you Shirlene. No matter what country we live in, Let us try to show our gratitude. Wonder how well this would go/work in Canada? There is this thing here in Canada (Edmonton anyhow) thru a Christian radio station to buy the coffee for the soldier in line-up next time for coffee.. I had bought a Tim Hortons coffee for a soldier once and gratitude he had cannot be compaired to gratitude I have for him serving my country. Also we have what we call "Red Friday" in remembrance for those who serve our country. We wear red clothing on Fridays, I always try to wear red on Fridays now and even made a special Red Canadian leaf scrub top for work. *4U ><>

Hi cuties just wanted to share.I live in a place called Medowie,it is about 5 minutes away from the William Town RAAF(Royal Australian Air Force) base.95% of pople that live here are military & most have been to Iraq, Afghanastan,Egypt,Bosnia & where ever they are needed.Our family has been on support for some of our closest friends,while their husbands/faters have been over seas.they don't say alot about what goes on over there.But can only imagine,after seeing a few documentries on the subject.My heart goes out to them all.

Dkjack, my late DH was a Marine, so you are part of my family. Oorah! What they do/did will never be forgotten, and always appreciated, at least in this house! I buried him in his dress blues, because for everything else he did in his life, a Marine was what he truly was, first & foremost. My best to all who have anyone in any branch of service. This is lovely! If anyone wants to get in on sending things to the troops but doesn't have an "in", go join Cassandrasembroidery@yahoogroups.com and ask about the gifts for the troops. She has some embroidery patterns that people can get for free if they then use them to make the items for the troops and mail them to her. She is going to send off a huge package soon and another in the late fall. There is a link to her group from her website.
