The magnolia flowers are opening ,the freesias will be opening in a few days ,the strawberries are ready to pick & its over 25 C outside, But it is the middle of winter here & I had to change into a t-shirt & shorts, so I better get out there & do some weeding before the weeds get too big for there boots.
We are wondering what summer will be like this year considering the mild winter that we have had so far.

Australia is a funny place whilst "killiecrankie" is having 25c we down here in Newcastle are in the high teens, although today was 21c. We are expecting rain on Wednesday and Thursday though and about 17/18c. We have another month of winter and then Spring on the 1st September. I've been picking Jonquils for a few weeks and have some Poached egg plant seedlings just about 1/2 inch high!!! coming through. Can't wait to see these pretty flowers in bloom. I too hope that summer this December to February next year will not be like it was this past summer. Love Chris

I found the daffodils up amongst the weeds ready to flower next month . I.forgotten that they were there.The japonica camellias are have been flowering profusely for a few months now ,considering the record breaking temperatures of January 43C & 47C I am surprised at what survived the heat & what got burnt.The soil here is grey sand & if you dig down far enough it turns white.
