This is sooo sad! :-( It seems I spend so much time collecting ( patterns & fabric) that I don't have time to do anything with them. I wouldn't want to miss anything good though...;-)

To help me stay more focused, I make a folder in my designs folder "Ready to machine 2013". Sometimes when I download a design , I know exactally what I plan to do with it, so I save a copy to my ready to machine folder, print out a copy and pin it to proposed project blank. Also , If I have spent hours working on a design and have it ready to stitch, I save a copy to my ready to machine folder. When I am in between or caught up mode, I go to my folder and choose my next project. It is there ready to go to the machine. Also the printout has a date on it so I what year to look under when I let a project go for a long time. I have done this since 2007 or 2008 and it surly helps me find designs that I wanted to stitch and did not do so immediately. What works for you? Kay

Hi Bev! Sometimes I think we look at (and DL) designs in the foreground, while in the background, we are pondering design in general, or color, or shape, etc. So, looking at all that inspires us to do something different when we do take a seat at the machine. I have been pondering on color about six weeks, reading and just noticing in magazines, designs, people's clothes,gardens ... The result this week has been about six shirts with an all-new, fresh and kinda different/odd perspective on color. I've taken things to a new level of creativity, some kind of color breakthrough. I'm freer to experiment, less rigid in following suggested colorways, and I'm having a lot of fun with batiks!

Instead of going out and drink a coffee or two in a coffee shop I spend the money for designs. I rejoice on them much longer than on the cofee and it does not stay on my hips. Like Karen said sometime I have to buy them just because tehy are soo beautiful and I like the thought that they are here on my computer and I can watch at them whenever I wnta to (and I could start a project with them too :-). So I don't spend money in coffeeshops or for magazines. I prefer to invest in designs (since I have my little business this is an expense!).

I think we all have it in our genes. We need to go HUNTING for better sales and bargain and unique designs and we need to COLLECT AND STORE them for the bad and boring times to come :-). We have our plans to do a lot of sewing, embroidering and gift making -and I know there will come a time and we really will be happy to have OUR COLLECTION OF 1.000.000 designs - and, of course, we will need a lot of designs for our businesses too :-)

Sorry, no solution for you - I suffer right along with you and the others. I am doing more like you now though - put it on a wish list and be sure it is something I really think I will sew out (kinda shying away from huge stitch / color change ones right now).

I think of being also affected by the same mania: the collection of free drawings, the purchases of collections, the subscriptions on sites. In fact, I spend a lot of time to extract and to classify files I would need several lives to get through it! Hélène

I think several of us figured it out a long time ago. It's called Embroidery OCD! Collectingitis! I could go on and on with all the different names we came up with. I've cut way down over the years. If I don't like a design I don't download it just because it's free. I do some embroidery on items for sale. If I don't have it then my customers don't miss it.

Because we can. You never know when one you downloaded awhile ago will be just the design you need now. I look throught them ever so often to remind myself of what I have.

I think we all have the same "affliction" or "addiction". At least it is not bad for our health - probably the opposite.

It's because you just never know WHEN but you WILL need that design, my GS proved it to me he asked for a thinking hat..then i remembered i had a lightbulb pattern i dl from the cuties, it all comes in handy for that perfect gift or decor change

I know! I get it, or rather I spend it! I do spend hours looking at designs. I am trying to put things together like michelle does. I must say, I waiver back and forth, and I hope eventually I will play with them all. It is strange that I prefer to stitch my friends here designs first. I think it is because I want to do them at the same time as others are.

I see, I want. I can think of many ways to use the designs I see, But never enough time to complete them.
