Curiosity question my Cuties...with design projects like coasters and mug rugs...what do you prefer...just the blank that you put your own design in...or with a design?

I like that the sets of OMAs place have a plain mugrug also. But if I can choose I would prefer the single blank one to save money (have more than enough designs to fill in ;o).

Blank for me also. I've got so many designs that it's easy to add a design to a blank.

I prefer both. some folks can combine designs. I am not one of them, I spend hours just looking and sorting, hoping someday I too will be an accomplish design "artist"! Once in a while it happens, however so far my work has been combining/learning techniques and just plain stitching. I need a blank where I can insert my own stitchout and just have to find a good coordinating fabric to go with it! Then I can claim more "finished" works. I think a frame with concentric shapes to start or quilt that process would be really excellent. Then something will be sure to fit! I guess the best way to describe it would be ITH piecing. where could exclude the inner rings.

I do both. I have several frames I can use to put around a design or make a coaster already digitized as a coaster.

I like both but love the idea of adding my own designs. Sometimes I may like the shape and size but the design and wording is not my choice and really feel bad when I remove the designs to put in my own. I know the digitizer put a lot of thought and work into her design. I love what you have been giving to the cute community and have plans to get started on them when we get back from Utah and hopefully before we head out for Maine. Thank you for asking and thank you for your designs. Hugs..Carol

Both are wonderful, because others come up with wonderful ideals.

Both for me. One with a design gives me ideas as to what will fit into the area so if I want to change the design I know what to look for.

It's been a while since I've gotten a chance to comment, or embroider/sew. My machine has been very sick, but finally I believe I have her fixed. Yahoo!
Anywho, just want to say how I love all your new coasters/mug rugs!! You have a very loving, generous heart to continue to share so may beautiful goodies with all of us!
Thank you from the bottom of my ole heart to the tips of my ugly ole toes! LOL
Either way is fine, but it is kinda fun to give a blank a different look. So sweet of you to ask and give us all the option of playing with fabrics and designs.
Thanks a zillion!!
Hugs and *****

Good of you to ask the question. I always assumed it was dead easy to leave out a design (just skip the colours) and use whatever you wanted instead - that's how I do it, no need to bother with editing software. Now I know better.

You know, me too, Martine..I thought..just skip over the design colors and import my own...never thought about offering a "blank"...but, now I know that some Cuties need blank designs...that sound funny doesn't it...blank designs???

I like blanks to use but I like to see designers' ideas as well because that's where I get my inspiration.
I'd love to know how to stipple around my own designs and envy digitisers who can do that.

It's all done by the software...what digitizing software are you using? Perhaps another Cutie can help you...once you know how your software works, it isn't very difficult...

I have the Husqvarna 3D Pro Emb suite and it works well. I just haven't disciplined myself to learn all there is to know. However, I will find out about the stippling. Many thanks for your help.

Actually, I like both. The digitizer has his/her own style of designs which I like. If the shape is cool, I'd like to add my own touch even if it's just a name in a frame.
You are so thoughtful to ask. Thank you!

Like most cuties, I like both but if I can only have one, then I would say design and just skip what I don't want. This has been mentioned several times.
