A BABY BLANKET QUESTION PLEASE...I used the silk binding you purchase in the stores to go around a piece of fleece...I folded my corners correctly and its all around nicely...my question is...where the corners are folded over and turned to make the angle, do you sew a line up to keep the fold secure or do you leave it as it is...its good, it just has a openings...

I don't have my camera (dh has it on the job sites) but I thought if you've done them before you would know what I mean

Personally I'd sew it down as it's a trap for little fingers and DUST! he he he! Love Chris

I think it would look fine either way, however as has been said it is a possible trap for little fingers and dust.

It can be done either way. If you think the child might poke their finger in the corner or if it is going to get a lot of washings, you might want to stitch it down. hugs, Susan

I say if you MUST sew it down,,,do it by hand so the stitches can be hidden in the fold....I do not sew the fold down.....commercially bought ones aren't

Just a thought; having the corner conundrum might be a great place to add a tiny design or decorative stitching.

I do usually stitch my corners down as kids tend to pick and even a little thread can lead to a big hole - when I can I use a cute stitch pattern, but when they are narrow, I just do a regular stitch.

For additional help or any lessons you might also try going on You Tube. Even has a lesson on a self binding quilt. Missouri Quilt Company has great videos.
