Who woulda tho't..read about this hint for storing bobbins. Went directly to my office supply store for a box of 25..cost about $7. Plastic spiral notebook binders! These will hold 19 bobbins per, but I am cutting them in half, & as you can see, bobbins are tightly enclosed and I've snipped a couple to see colors better--tho they are very flexible and you can flip each to the side to view better. I'd rather have had white--don't know if they come in clear....was in a hurry and grabbed a box! Hope you like.

You're right. This is a clever idea and I would never have come up with it. Does it help to corral the threads so they don't escape? That's always my headache over bobbin cases or bobbin clips. Thanks for sharing.

I think so, if you have the ends wound on when you store in clip. I'm experimenting right now.

Thank you so much for the idea. I just toss some out but will have to save them and try them out. Happy Stitching

It does work, and I agree they do need trimmed or it is too much of a pain to work with.

Well, I've been called some descriptive words---but don't recall "brilliant" or "clever" being used :-}

I have been using these for years. I cut them separately and then they fit into my bobbin box which has a lid to keep the dust out. Sorry I have not shared this idea passed on to me from a sewing group I used to belong to. Shirley

I thought to leave mine in sections and dedicate all of a section (or sections) to variations of a color. I need to get smart and come up with idea for marking the color on. Troublesome maybe, but I have artist paints, and I'd only need a dab of green (for instance) on the coils that hold green threads, etc etc. Now Shirley, you go stand in the corner for not sharing this idea with us!! haha You know I am teasing you!
Yes I am hanging my head in shame. ha ha. Great idea to leave in sections though. One for bobbin fill thread, one for normal sewing thread and one for embroidery thread, as I often use the same color when sewing lace etc. Shirley

I used to work for a printing company and we preferred using the white combs when binding, so yes they do come in white .. never seen them in clear though. Also the smaller diameter ones are great to stitch onto ITH notepad holders to hold the pen/pencil (a friend showed me this idea).
Now if only I could remember where I put them coz this is a great idea :) xXx

That is a neat idea. I use the basic plastic box for my regular bobbins and for my embroidery bobbins that use brand specific thread I bought a rubberized ring and like it really well. They sell them on amazon but I had purchased mine at an amish quilt fabric shop. They hold them nice and neat too and come in assorted colors.
