New life is all around me - our Kookaburras are nesting once again and I've put some lovely piccies here for you to have a look at. We haven't had a look in the hole of the gumtree yet, so we are not sure how many eggs are in there. We are having the house painted at the moment, so I'll get Trev to pop up on one of the ladders and check out the nest. Love Chris
1. I was sitting on our back deck when Mummy Kookaburra (we think) came and said hello! Males have more blue on their wings and tails!

Wow, I never realized how colourful they are. Here in Canada, all I knew about kookaburras was our Girl Guide song "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree..." Thank you for sharing these touching photos.

Oh! I love ladybugs. Dana used to have them (stick on ones) all over her room when she was growing up. Love Chris (don't like Wasps much though!)

Hi Vicki, yes they are such gorgeous birds. You can actually feed them from your hand if they get to know you really well and their beak is actually softer than it looks. Love Chris

Oh! yes, it's a great children's song here in Australia. I think practically every child knows it as a round. One child starts off with the first line and then the second one starts and then the third and so on. It does get a bit monotonous at times, but hey it's fun. Love Chris

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Only thing I get to watch everyday on my deck is Cardinals and other little wild birds that come to eat the bird seed we set out for the Cardinals. They are really beautiful when they land in the cider trees when they're covered with snow.

Hi Juanita, I'd love to see a Cardinal, we don't have them in Australia. Any wild bird is beautiful to see and that's how I like to see them, I hate caged birds!!!!!! We are so lucky to be able to have all this nature around us. Love Chris

Oh Chris how lucky are you to see where they are nesting. I only get to feed one now and again, and they sit on my clothes line. I love them laughing and yes they are lovely. They become territorial also. I had to rescue a sick one earlier this year. I have a wild life carer living in out street, so he comes in handy. Thanks for sharing I love nature/

HI Kerry, that's awesome that you have a WIRES person in your street. And yes, they are territorial, that's why the same birds nest here in my gum tree every year. The parent birds get used to us, but the siblings are very shy. Each year a sibling helps out with the feeding. So at times we have Mum, Dad and one of their previous lot feeding the new babies. It's full on at feed times! Love Chris

You goose! That's my Yellow Banksia rose climbing up onto next doors vegetable garden wiring. Steve grows all sorts of vegies etc. in there. If you double click on the picture ou will see it more clearly!! Love Chris
They mean the yellow thing inside the net cage, it does look like a rubber ducky, even when you enlarge the picture...

The photos are great Chris. I feed 5 Kookies each day among many other wild birds but they all fly off to the local bushland to their neats. My magpies are taking home meat for their babies I cant wait until they bring the babies over to me. And the butcher birds are carrying meat home to their nest so soon my back yard will be filled with babies.
