Pheew...I finally finished the quilt for my brother and SIL for their new beach cottage on Long Beach Island, New Jersey...I sure hope they like it...My SIL only told me that the furnishing colors were cream and beige with navy accents..."Beachy" to coin her phrase...My brother is a retired Navy Admiral, so I took some inspiration from that...I think it turned out well...the size is 80" x 100"...the size kind of got away from me...the quilt was pieced and put together and then the bluework embroidery was added so it is quilted through. Five lighthouse blocks and two sailing ship blocks...the picture of the back does not do justice...all of the navy quilting shows, but not so much in the picture...Now just need to design a label...Thanks for looking...

All of the quilting in the blocks was done in the hoop after the quilt was layered and assembled...then the borders were quilted through on my regular embroidery machine using the 4x12 "endless" hoop. All of the blocks are stippled in the corners and the center blocks are stipples around the lighthouses and ships...The only "regular" machine quilting that was done is the "in-the-ditch" quilting...all of the rest was done with the embroidery machine...The blocks are 16" square...
