Embird is much cheaper and very friendly to use. I have been using it for several years, the updates are only $20, the initial cost is about $165, no one can come close to that!

Michelle, I have Embird and love all its features. I do not digitize, although I have purchased the Studio software plug-in portion to Embird. Haven't had time to try it. An experienced digitizer that learned to digitize using Embird, then later bought the expensive Generations software, told me Embird was the way to go!

Hi Michelle
I don't know what your looking for, but have you checked out the Sew What products? I have Sew What Pro and am so happy with it. The support from the team is unbelieveable and the prices for their products is too. You can try any of their program's for free.

thanks Cuties
I should have mentioned that I have Embird at the moment but am looking to buy a new Brother machine and their software is PE design. That is why I am wondering if I should include the PE in my package or just stay with embird?

You don't need to buy Brother software when you already own another programme. I have a Brother 190D and use either Embird or my 5D (Husqvarna/Pfaff) to digitise and customise designs and lettering. As the 190D uses the old-fashioned embroidery cards I use PED basic to write the designs to a card, and that is about the only thing PED basic can do.
So if you are happy with Embird stay with it and spend the money on an extra hoop or anything else you fancy.

I got PE design next in my package when I bought my brother pr1000, I ended up taking it back I really didn't like it. I use generations and I love it but that is because I am used to it. having said that generations does not run well in windows 7 so I will definitely be trying embird when generations stops working altogether because I have heard so many good things about it.
