Just had to share my birthday wake up call with you all! Here is Daddy Kookaburra on my back deck. I fed him some sausage and threw some into the nest! Love Chris

1. Sitting on my glass panel railing.
2. Looking out to the back reserve.
3. Looking into the nest.
4. Listening to his mate.
5. Wondering whether it's safe to go in or not!
6. I put some sausage out for him on the feeding tray!

Happy Birthday! Love your view! I am so glad to see your Daddy Kookaburra, I hope we get to see more! Some nice person put in a deck on the tree for him to see and not have to go in! Lol! You live in a beautiful place, thanks for sharing it! Happy Spring!

Chris what a way to start the day, such a lovely lot of pics. I really love the second shot, why wouldn't they want to nest in such a lovely tree and surroundings. Enjoy the rest of the day, all my love and hugs, Kerry

Mine haven't come back this year. Must have found somewhere better, but I have rabbits eating everything and a kangaroo who eats all of my new rose shoots. Heard a Koala last night (Male) so Spring is certainly here.

What does a Koala sound like? I get the chirping of baby raccoons in the spring as they toddle after the moms. They are so cute all silly and clumsy falling off my porch or standing on their hind legs and getting all puffed up at the sight of me standing at my sliding glass door. Love spring and all the babies and singing birds....sigh...we are heading into Fall and then Winter here.

It is hard to describe what a koala sounds like. It is the mating season and the males make all the noise. Here is a link to a uTube video:

Hope it works for you.

Yes Gerry, this bird has an amazing voice. If you can have a look on You Tube of a Kookaburra laughing. It's a very distinct call and one you don't forget easily. Love Chris
