My 1st machine cross stitch project - Cat Cosmetic Bag.

Made this for my young niece, who loves cats. This design stitches out beautifully. There was one "x" missing from the file, so I added it by hand after the rest of the design finished (that's when I noticed the small blank space). I used spray adhesive to sandwich black cut-away stablizer to my black fabric before stitching. I hooped tear-away and then layed my fabric on top. Made the same sandwich for the back, but used a faux suede to add some texture, and used a lightweight lining material inside. This was not an ITH project, so assembly was done with regular sewing machine.

I hope she likes it, and thanks for looking!!

Thank you - i hope so. She can be a little finicky (like the cat!!), so it's hard to know what she will like sometimes.

You have done a great job. I am a bit scared to do machine x stitch as I know that there are usually a huge number of stitches. The cat's expression is wonderful. Sarah.

Thanks Sarah! I was hesitant to do it as well. But I finally decided to try it, and it found I like this look. The crosses seem to stitchout double (on top of themselves) as you go, and I think that makes it look more sturdy and "filled". I don't know if all cross stitch designs work that way, but I am quite pleased with this one. Thanks for your comments!

I love the look of X-stitch. Only problem is that generally it has lots of colors, but predictable in that it lays flat when done. I love your bag!!

Thank you - yes there were many colors, but that makes it look more realistic and gives the design depth.

Thank you. Oh yes - lots of stitches and many many jumps. I hope the ones I had to cut (that jumped over top of other colors) don't cause the whole thing to unravel.
