Is it feed a cold & starve a fever or is it the other way around? I have had this awful cold for only 7 days now & the Dr. has told me in the past that because of my susceptability to infection & slow recovery it takes me twice as long to recover from infection then the average person (not saying I think any cuties are average) so to me that says: the average cold takes 7-10 days to finish going through your system so for me that is 14-20 days & I am only on day 7.............. I have been looking @ home remedies on line thanks to a tip from muflotex & my mind is on overload. What do you use to help get over a cold/flu? Any tips are appreciated.

Vitamin C, rest, and lots of over the counter medicine unless I get a secondary infection in which case I go to the doctor. Also any fever with a sore throat or stiff neck means you need to go to the doctor. I hope you feel better soon.

I don't think you actually "feed" or "starve" anything but be sure to have lots of fluids.

I have been drinking because my lips are getting chapped? I am very dry but no fever? Thanks sewmom. I am very familiar with the meningitis too but thanks for that too. hugs

Like sewmom said, Vitamin C and rest. I would add Vitamin D3 (at least 5000 units per day -- my doctor says much more for me) and eat healthy foods.
The starve a fever, means liquid diet. I think that was just to prevent dehydration with the flu -- but I am not sure. In any case, eat healthy foods and rest often.

Get well soon!!! Is there a local pharmacy where you can call and ask one of the pharmacists? If you have high blood pressure or glaucoma of any kind let them know that as some medical conditions can limit what you can take. They are a wealth of information. Please take care, it's no fun being sick.

You need homemade chicken noodle soup! I would bring you some, if I lived closer. LOL! Hope you get better.

This is so very true! Chicken soup has been proven to help!
Even canned soup works -- heat some up Loralye and thanks lilylady for the idea.

Thank you all for the healthy tips. I made 2 pots of tea one peppermint & the other chamomile & I even had some chicken soup (from a box LOL) I do feel better so I think I will keep this up. Thanks again , it's funny when someone else is sick you know just what to do but when it is you, your just to busy & then poop your the one sick & rational thought just goes ................ LOL
