We went camping with our grown children, whose birthdays were Saturday and today, and our 5 grandchildren on Friday. That night my 6 year old precious grandbaby fell into the grate on the fire pit. He's the one with cerebral palsy. He has 3rd degree burns on his left partially paralyzed hand. He has 2nd degree on the right. We took him to the nearest emergency room and they kept him until 2AM. By the time they got the wounds dressed and medicated him he had calmed down and gotten some relief. The next day he was on hydrocodone and didn't complain hardly any. Today he was only taking tylenol and playing as much as he could with both hands heavily bandaged.
He was standing right in front of my husband and I and we were well back from the fire and he just tripped and landed on the grate that was open. My heart is so sick over this. Please be in prayer for his healing and that the pain stays manageable. We will be taking him to a burn center in Atlanta as soon as we can call in (Monday AM) and get an appointment.

My youngest tripped and fell onto the glass front to our fireplace. I will avoid the details -- but he was burned badly over his arm. He healed much faster and better than did my heart. I still remember it like it was last week. He does not remember doing it.

OH how very traumatic for everyone! Of course I will pray for him and for everyone in his family. I do need to tell you that something so very similar happened to my niece's little daughter, and she had similar burns. But, she did heal completely with hardly any scarring. No nightmares or anything so far. Please don't blame yourself, sometimes these things happen. With love and prayers, Jan

My heart cries out for your grandchild. I think it hurts even more with Grands than it does for your children. Almost lost my oldest Grand when not getting his breath when around 1 he cried for Gma and it broke my heart still fresh in my mind. Lord over saw and I trust he will heal your precious Grandchild as well.

I am so sorry to hear of this, Jerrilyn! I know your heart aches for your little grandson going through such pain. Praying for his quick healing and return to norm! The Shrine Childrens Hospitals have centers for severe burn trama (Scottish Rite) in several cities. They do a wonderful job treating kids with orthopedic and burn issues at no cost to the parents. My husband is a Shriner, and just spent the past two weekends with his fellow shriners collecting monies for the Hospitals.

God bless each of you for your prayers on our behalf. He is with me today and I will take care of him until the appointment. My daughter is at work and is handling the calls to the burn center, but I will let you all know as I find out. We have silvadene cream and are keeping it well covered with that and bandages. It seems to be taking away most of the pain. I covet your prayers as we do the time until he is healed. I trust God to use this horrible situation. I know how much He loves my sweet gbaby.

Oh Jerrilyn, I just read this - I felt myself wanting to somehow catch him from falling, as I read it. Please know that this sweet little fellow is in my prayers as is all of your family and you too!! Have come back from the doctor with great news! He said that Luke's burns were 2nd degree on the left hand and 1st on the right. He said that sometimes it's difficult to tell the degree when it first happens. I believe that God heard the prayers of all of us and intervened. We are so very thankful that they are not 3rd degree which require debridement and have lengthened and greater suffering. The only concern now is that we take care not to get the open wounds infected. Not going to be easy on a six year old boy.
Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your earnest prayers on his behalf.

Jerrilyn, since you were near Atlanta, I am assuming you are here in the south. Well, it's so cold here in TN right now, that little sweetie will not want to go outside to play for a few days!! YES, it was answered prayer!!
