How wonderful! And unbelievable she did it all by hand. I would choose the last quilt (in brown, orange, yellow - autumn like) because these
are my favourite colours. Good to know you all had a great time there

Oh yes, the stained-glass one is indeed a work of art and truly beautiful!. Each element in the quilt is a picture on its own and the combined composition is reminiscent of a window in a Cathedral. In awe - Patricia in South Africa

I've just seen them close up. What beautiful work!! I don't have a favourite - just love them all. I'd love to just talk to that lady for a few minutes - she must have a brilliant mind.

Beautiful. I am lucky to live close to a lady who hand stitches all her quilts. Rosie Bourland ,her wedding dress is at the Smithsonian.
It was made from parachutes. She has over 75 queen size quilts in her home. I am lucky to have been in her classes but mine do not even come close to her workmanship.

I was so very surprised the see this posting and reading such wonderful compliments-this wonderful lady was my Mom. I grew up under the quilt frame dodging the needle. Many hours were spent as a child sitting around the "quilting bees" and listening to all the gossip being exchanged. This is just a small sampling of my Mom's handiwork. Many pricked fingers were spent on the 1st pic "Windows of Peace" and often wondered if we would ever get it finished. She was a true perfectionist in all her quilting 10-12 stitches per inch! That would rival any surgeon's technique...lol Sadly, Mom passed away several years ago. She would be so touched to hear the comments. I was truly blessed to have such a mentor as she was so accomplished in any of the machine-hand sewing arts. She came from a family that had equally talented five daughters. What a family to grow up in and I've many great stories as told during the quilting circles between someone on either side of you critiquing your work. It's so much fun retracing the 'scraps' in quilts back to my great grandma. (these done well before quilting was the 'in' thing to do-and having designer fabrics, instead of flour or seed sacks!) She will always be cherished and loved. Thanks for brightening my day-all your accolades have touched my heart! Charlotte
