Hi Everyone,
I'm after some advice. I wanted to make something special this year for our christmas table and came across this design:-

Has anyone attempted any of the village from this site? I was wanting to know how much thread was used, and if they slotted together ok. Also how long it took to stitch out each panel approximately.
I have never tried this form of FSL before. I wanted some advice before outlaying such a huge amount of money on a design.

About this design, It looks spectacular, but I've no experience with this. It looks like a lot of work, but it's beautiful.

Thanks Ladies for the welcome, I am relatively new to the world of embroidery. I bought a machine with my redundancy money and have been making 'name' projects mostly. I wanted to attempt something a little different.
I found this site by chance a little while ago. I don't post often but drool lots over all the lovely things people create.
This year for Christmas I wanted to attempt a "statement' piece!!! I bought a few packets of electric tealights and thought this would be the perfect project.
Anyone know of any other sites that have designs I can put an electric tealight into? I have seen the german one with the windmill (another project for the maybe pile). I am unsure what search term to use. I have been using FSL lantern, but not coming up with much inspiration.

Never tried anything on there, but it looks absolutely stunning and I'm sure it would turn out as good as it looks. If you are curious why not write to them and ask how much thread will be used for this design. They will slot together well as I've used this method on napkin rings and the little knobs will go into the loops. I think this is a good price for all of those pieces (12 for the house). I bought one design from Zundt and it was $25.00 for one small 4x4 doily. Anyway, I'd go for it, but there may be more comments from others. Love Chris

If you click on Preview Sewing Information just above the price of the village it give you stitch information. It is a combination of FSL & applique. Don't use the clear Solvy as it will tear. Use Vilene washaway & rinse out lightly so it is still stiff. DON"T un-hoop when trimming the applique. I have used the bobble buttons on FSL baubles but I don't think it was from this site. It looks like quite a few hours work. Would love to see a picture & comments if you go ahead with it.

Was it you that did the tea cup ITH thingy?? I made one for a friend and she was so chuffed!! I got sick of her coming over to my place and bringing her own tea gas but pulling them out of her bag wrapped around hairbrushes and chewing gum!!! I needed to sort her out quick!!!

Hi, I just read your comment on the bottom. I know that skeldale house has a free Christmas Village if you want to try FSL at no cost. It is smaller of course. Also there are several sites that do the felt tealights, embroidery garden and unlimitedstitching come to mind. Any else you need, let us know Welcome to Cute - hope to see ya around!

I believe you need to join skeldale's group to find most of the free designs.
Thank you, some great designs there but can't locate their village piece or pieces.
Try the bottom of the page in the Christmas?? section. They are free -- even if you are not part of the group. I think there were four on one page.

Thank you rescuer, I just had a look and did an internet search, it seems those designs were part of the 2004 collection, which are no longer available, unless I am wrong and it has a current direct link.
