I just realised that it is exactly 4 years since I first became a member of Cute Embroidery. (Doesn't time fly!?) In the beginning I was lured by the six free designs every day as I had only just bought my first embroidery machine.

I went through the projects pages avidly for inspiration and plucked up courage to post my first one about a month later. At Christmas I took advantage of the sale and bought my first six month membership giving me access to a wealth of fabulous designs.

By stitching these and those I downloaded from DBC, I learned a huge amount about how designs were built up. After a two year learning period I took the plunge and began to digitise for myself and dare to post the results in DBC. Thanks to the encouragement of other members and the huge boost of seeing them post pictures of my designs in Projects, I persisted and another year on, Yoriko had the confidence in me to include my designs on her site.

Along the way, I found friendship spreading all over the world and discovered that there was always someone with the advice I needed almost instantly!

Some of you who are reading this are now at the stage I was at 4 years ago, and I hope you will become an active part of the community and enjoy your time here as much as I do. I couldn't have achieved what I have by myself.

Hi Sue
I'm amazed to read that you have only had your Bernina embroidery machine (your first) for four years. I'm not too far behind you in the length of time, but WAY behind your abilities! Love your work!

My machine is a Janome. I may have only had an embroidery machine for four years, but I have been sewing and embroidering by hand since I was about three!

Sue you are kindly making allowances for me but I must confess, that like you, I too have done sewing, art needlework, you name it, for MANY years but I have in no way come to terms with digitizing!!! Lack of practice.

Perseverance is my middle name!

Sue, you have inspired me, together with your ultra neat sewing area, to knuckle down in the coming year to apply myself to gain knowledge in digitizing. It has been all too easy to use DBC designs or to purchase from Advanced Embroidery, Emb Library, Anna Boven or Windstar!

Like you, I was quiet when I joined -- but I was quiet much longer. When I finally joined in I found a community of love and support. I discovered a world of people willing to cheer me on and give me flowers for my projects.
It was because of your encouragement that I took the plunge and stitched my first ITH project. It was such a wonderful feeling to conquer the fear I had of doing something so very intimidating to me.

Thank you Sue for being a wonderful part of this community!

Congratulations Sue. What a wonderful achievement. Within that short period of time though you have managed to bring our embroidery world closer and bring joy to a lot of us. Thanks for all you do with the birthdays, Secret Santa and cards that just mysteriously ,unexpectedly show up at our homes to give us a lift when we need it the most. I for one value you as a member but most of all as a friend. Stella

And I for one am so glad you did! You have brought so very much to this site and I'm grateful. I know you have heard me say it before, but there isn't one of us here by accident. We were brought together for a reason and I miss "seeing" you when you aren't here. We are each a part of a puzzle and when one goes missing you don't get the whole picture.
For those of you who are new, please join in. We love getting to meet new friends and expanding our world of embroidery.

Congratulations on the achievements you have amassed in that short time. Thankyou for generously offering the fruit of your talents to people like me who probably won't ever master the art of digitising.
I loved your story and it's an inspiration to all those who are taking the digitising road. I hope they have the wonderful success that you have had because it must be a great feeling to be able to create the way you do. The Best of Luck to you for further achievements in the future.

Huge cyber hugs to you all. I find it difficult trying to reply to your comments because it makes me feel as if I was fishing for compliments. My aim was to try to explain that there was more to this site than the free designs!

Congratulations. Sounds like my story with less accomplishments. I guess I figure with all the designs I have collected, there is no need to digitize. Might also have something to do with my age. Anyway my first purchase of membership was in Aug 2008 and without this site I would know very little about embroidery and would have missed out on some great friendships. Yes there is so much more to this site then free designs. Still Sue my hat of to you for all the things you have done for this group and all that you have accomplished.
Hugs Angie

Happy Anniversary! What digitizing software do you use? Where does one go to even get started in that field? I love how creative people are here, and have enjoyed the overwhelming help I have received.
