I can;'t believe an expert did not answer you. I will give you my 2 cents. Here is the order of a satin stitch hex mat design. 1 placement 2 tackdown. 3 sometimes extra tackdown (zig zag), 4 start of design colors... then some go around again befor the satin or if it is a turned piece you will see a straight all around with an opening.
