The lazy woman's guide to decorating a Christmas cake. (A work in progress!) The top is quilted and it is being modeled by the tin I made the cake in. (The actual cake is wrapped up to mature.) I'm not sure yet what to do with the sides. I think I'll edge it with Christmas ribbon and leave it like a little tablecloth. Or, I could stitch seams down the corners........ Or I could just ice the cake.

This is such a lovely design. I would try to keep plain simple as possible on sides so as not to distract from the design. I am sure you will finish it to look good enough to eat.

I like the idea of a simple stitch down each corner. The embroidery is so beautiful! You are so creative, Sue!

It's a lovely cake topper. Sounds like a fruit cake wrapped in cheese cloth soaked in bourbon. lol

A FSL inserted a each corner may look nice. not sure without looking into it further, just a thought.

Just tie a ribbon around but it all depends on who is going to eat the cake and whether they like marzipan and icing!!! Or just tie the ribbon around the tin and fool everyone!!!!

We love marzipan, but the icing is a bit too much.

Love the cake cover, you could use cover to indent the design on sugar icing or perhaps on almond paste and then use a indented design to pipe the design on cake,. For my daughters birthday last summer I used fsl's to decorate their birthday cake. G

I think I understand and axiously await your resolution. I say do whatever so that the piece can be used well.
